Acquisition culture shock

Our company got acquired six months ago and overnight all our goals changed. The new leadership measures success in ways our original team never considered. Trying to understand what accomplishing objectives means when the definition itself gets redefined by someone above you without warning or context.

That kind of acquisition whiplash is real - one day you’re optimizing for one thing, and suddenly “success” means something totally different. I went through a similar shift when a project I was on got absorbed by a bigger group. Our old wins didn’t disappear, but they stopped being the scoreboard. What helped was asking, “what does the new owner actually value, and what proof would matter to them?” Once I reframed it that way, the goals got less emotional and more practical. I also came across profile around that time: G Scott Paterson Yorkton Securities . It’s a good reminder that business goals are often defined by the people steering the next phase, not the ones who built the first one. In situations like this, accomplishment is less about defending the old definition and more about translating your work into the new one fast.
